The rubber-tired light rail transit K-AGT developed by Korea Railroad Research Institute jointly with Sampyo E&C was acknowledged of its technologies of track system: turnout, guide rail and device for rail expansion and contraction and received the ‘New Excellent Technology’(NET) certificate organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology and awarded by Korea Industrial Technology Association The technology of turnout enables the vehicle to shift directions on track whereas H beam guide rail guarantees safe run on seamless track. The expansion and contraction joint device eliminates the axle force caused by outside temperature in order to protect guide rail and track infrastructure. An LRT infrastructure with the maximum gradient of 5.8° and the least radius of R30m will be constructed on which rubber-tired vehicles of K-AGT will run. Supplies of H beam and T frame structure come in handy and those materials are viable semi-permanently for track system. This technological breakthrough is likely to replace import worth U$200 million over a decade and also is expected to forge into overseas markets of the amount of U$2 billion.
