Korean high speed rail HSR-350x or G7 has achieved the running distance of 120,000 km on test as of November 16. The test run kicked off August 2002, after 6 years of the system development and the train attained the top speed of 352.4km last December.
The test run started off on Kyungbu railway line of Kwangmyung~East Daegu corridor but it was extended to Honam line from this February. Guaranteed reliability is the bottom line for public service.
The KTX test train had run 100,000km before it opened service to public to prove its performance and the 120,000km attainment of HSR-350x is an authentic verification.
While running on test, as many as 84 items were scrutinized for each of the item's performance and credibility in the light of commercialization.
The HSR-350x test run force, launched February 1, is composed of professional experts from Ministry of Construction and Transportation, Korea Railroad Research Institute, Korean Railroad Corporation, Korea Rail Network Authority and Rotem with experience of KTX trial run before service.
As the test run keeps on going, the Test Run Work Force will get more focused on the system’s stability and commercialization in the future.
