The Korea high speed train prototype saw its
historic moment of marking the 100th test run September 16. Put on track last November for the first time to conduct a preemptive running of six rounds on the existing Kyunbu and Honam lines before the commercial operation of KTX, the future-geared train has covered as long as 28,300 kilometers up to now from 103 times of running.
The bullet train is currently test running between Kwangmyung and West Daejon three times a week. The frequency of the run will increase to four times a week, expected to attain its target speed of 350km/h by the end of the year as initially planned.
In the meantime, additional 12,000 more kilometers to
run by the end of 2005 will win confidentiality from the public by proving its safety and reliability to realize the long-envisioned project of Korea high speed train by October 2007.
