- Duties related to policy planning and support for conformity assessment

- Duties related to type approval, manufacturer approval, and final inspection of railway vehicles

- Research and development of technical regulations for railway vehicles and components

- Support for the enactment and revision of Railway Safety Act inspection regulations
- Cooperation on international railway standards
Osong Comprehensive Railroad Test Track Operating Department
- Safety management of the Comprehensive Railway Test Track
- Vehicle operations and traffic control for the Comprehensive Railway Test Track
- Facility improvement and maintenance of the Comprehensive Railway Test Track
